Kickstart to Apprenticeships
The Kickstart Scheme has provided a unique opportunity to both employers and young people. Employers have been able to provide a fully funded fixed term employment opportunity to a young person allowing the young person to fully understand the occupational sector the business operates in. Young people have been able to learn about the job role, hone their skills, and contribute to supporting the employer to grow their business during a period of significant uncertainty due to the global COVID 19 pandemic.
TRAC has been delighted to support employers and Kickstart employees through the journey from application to graduation. As Kickstart employees comes to the end of their placement many of our Kickstart employers have asked TRAC how they can progress their Kickstart Employee to an apprenticeship at the end of the Kickstart placement.
TRAC, working with a group of apprenticeship delivery partners, is able to support all Kickstart employers in progressing their Kickstart employee to an apprenticeship. Our delivery partners are able to offer a simple streamlined service through the apprenticeship journey from Kickstart progression to apprenticeship graduation.
What apprenticeships can our delivery partners offer?
These are the apprenticeships that our partners are currently offering:
• Level 2 is equivalent to 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 -9
• Level 5 is equivalent to 2 GCE A Level passes
• Level 4 is equivalent to the first year of a Higher National Diploma
Employer receives information and guidance.
Employer wishes to retain their Kickstart Employee and progress to an apprenticeship.
Employer visits TRAC website and completes enquiry form.
Partnership Assistant contacts employer and arranges employer meeting to discuss apprenticeship offer and delivery plan.
Account Manager attends meeting and completes the delivery plan, commitment statement and arranges for the issue of employer agreement.
Kickstart employee guidance sessions and eligibility checks undertaken.
Employer issues a revised contract of employment to reflect the apprenticeship and appoints an internal mentor.
Kickstart employee onbording completed and employee commences apprenticeship.
Access to online monthly performance management reporting is provided and Account Manager attends 90 day performance meetings with nominated employer lead.
